Premiere in flying displays

25.04.2018

We regularly provide information about what great machines and their pilots will perform on the Pardubice sky during the Aviation Fair. This year's, more than five-hour flight program, however, also brings one novelty. For the first time in the 22 years of history of the Aviation Fair, there will be a performance by a plane without a pilot, more precisely the pilot will be on the ground and a modern unmanned vehicle developed by an expert team of the Military Technical Institute will roam the skies.

What are the visitors of this year's Aviation Fair, on June 2nd and 3rd at the Pardubice airport going to see?

"The team of the Military Technical Institute will present two modern unmanned vehicles in flight demonstrations," Pavel Lang, spokesman for VTU explains and continues: "It will be the Miss Tractor unmanned system with a wing span of 2.84 m, maximum take-off weight 15 kg and a maximum flight speed of 150 km / h. It is used as an imitator of an aerial target for missile systems or anti-aircraft artillery target practice. The system allows the user day-and-night practice shooting and the only limitation may be heavy rain or icing conditions. Miss Tractor, resembling a big model, is used by anti-aircraft missile units of the Czech Armed Forces and the armed forces in the Baltic region for livefire exercises.

The second unmanned system will be Unmanned Rotor Universal System, abbreviated as BRUS in Czech. It is a modern unmanned vehicle with a vertical take-off and landing capability. It was developed specifically for use in demanding conditions by the same expert team of the Military Technical Institute. Six rotors with 70 cm diameter provide it with great stability and enough performance to fulfill specific tasks in the area of interest or crisis locations.

BRUS is the ideal sophisticated solution for aerial monitoring in situations where conventional aviation technology can not be used or it is economically disadvantageous. It serves as a carrier for a range of sensors and systems in private and government sectors. It can be used for documentation of accidents, fires and natural disasters, as well as inspection of high-voltage lines, gas pipelines, hot-water pipelines, air or environmental pollution control aviation footage filming and photography. Police of the Czech Republic became the first of the components of the integrated rescue system to operate BRUS. The Military Technical Institute will also inform the public about latest trends and technologies in the so-called antidrone protection against enemy drones in a commented demonstration of its unmanned vehicles." Pardubice Airport will be open for the public on 2nd and 3rd of June from 8 AM, and there will be a rich land program with lots of different activities for children besides the flight program.
