About Wine
The wine-making traidtion in Moravia reaches as far back as the Roman times in the 3rd century A.D. and together with Bohemian wines, they were already renowned and popular all over Europe in the Middle Ages. Over the past ten years, Moravian and Bohemian wines have undergone high quality development and now belong among the best wines of Central Europe. They are known for their interesting spectrum of aromas, rich extractive materials and harmony connected with a full taste with refreshing acids of white wines. Wine is produced in the Czech Republic in two regions: the wine region of Moravian (96% of vineyards) and the wine region of Bohemia (4% of vineyards).
Moravian winery trails
The Moravian wine trails constitute a unique network of regional cycling routes taking in the best of the local wine areas and monuments in South Moravia. The main Moravian Wine Trail links Znojmo and Uherské Hradiště and links ten individual circuits, each leading round one particular wine-growing area. With a length of almost 1,200 kilometres the trails lead through vineyards, orchards and along local roads.
