The home of Vincenz Priessnitz
This spa town, sometimes called the pearl of the Jeseníky Mountains, is situated in the north west of Moravia. Some 60 springs of very pure mountain water rise to the surface from deep in the earth in the countryside around Jeseník, each with its unique and original composition, and each with its own name. Beautiful walks along picturesque paths leading to the springs are one of the most popular activities in Jeseník. The spa has excellent weather throughout the year. The first hydro-therapeutic institute was founded here and run by local healer, Vincenz Priessnitz, sometimes called ‘the water doctor’. This made Jeseník famous around the world as the cradle of modern hydrotherapy.
Natural curative resources
Respiratory diseases (upper and lower tracts), diseases affecting the circulatory, metabolic, and musculoskeletal systems, mental diseases, gynaecological and dermatological diseases. In recent years, the focus has been on preventive relaxation and rehabilitation stays.
Free time activities
Visitors can make use of the indoor rehabilitation pool with counter-current, waterfall and whirlpool, the new Sauna World, hydro massage bath, whirlpools for 4 – 6 persons, and a whole range of new wellness and beauty procedures. There is also a games park with miniature golf, tennis courts, outdoor chess, Russian skittles, children’s playground, multi-purpose playground and a hire centre for sports equipment. The area offers superb conditions for hiking, the increasingly popular Nordic walking, and cycling. The Vincenz Priessnitz educational trail is also a great attraction. There are eight stops on the trail. At each one you can learn about the history and present of the spa in an entertaining way. In 2010, the new Balneo Park providing outdoor hydrotherapy procedures has been completed. In winter it is an ideal location for downhill and cross-country skiing, and skating in the ice rink.
