Poděbrady
Magic of the Labe River Valley
The town of Poděbrady is situated in the fertile valley of the River Labe around 50 kilometres from Prague. The spa began to develop here in the 17th century. The relatively low elevation above sea level (189 metres), the surrounding flat landscape, the stable climate all year round and the springs with mineral water – these are the main reasons why the spa is so popular with patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases. The peaceful idyllic surroundings are ideal for patients as well as hiking and cycling enthusiasts. Poděbrady is also an ideal place for holding all sorts of conferences and congresses.
Natural curative resources
Natural, strongly mineralised, acidulous (pH 5.83), cool (14°C), hypotonic water of the hydrocarbonate-chloridesodium-calcium type with an increased content of alkaline compounds and elevated concentrations of certain elements. Most spa facilities have these resources on tap in their balneological centres. Some facilities prescribe drinking cures involving resources that are freely available to all.

Free time activities
The following facilities and activities are available in Poděbrady: tennis courts, golf and miniature golf courses, a swimming pool, facilities for surfing, yachting, angling, volleyball courts, shooting range, squash courts, bowling, hiking and cycling trails, horse riding club (possibility to ride along the River Labe), and trips to the Bohemian Paradise. There is also a gallery of modern art, a mediaeval castle and a museum.
