| Description: | The original castle was probably built in the early 12th century in a strategic location – on the stony peak over the village of Zbiroh. Over the centuries it has undergone several structural repairs and its current form is that of a Neo-Renaissance chateau. In Zbiroh, it has belonged to a number of owners, including Přemysl Otakar II., and members of the Rozmberk, Kolowrat, and Lobkovic families. In 1912-1928 Alfons Mucha stayed in the chateau and created his famous work – the Slavic Epic. |
