Description: This water canal was built in 1498 - 1521 to use the Labe water for feeding a large network of artificial fishing lakes founded by the local lord. The canal is 34.7 km long and the bed width is between 1,5 - 5 m.
Description of routes (River / stream for paddlers ) Opatovický kanál
This is an artificial flow, which serves to supply ponds and it is descended by turning from the Elbe above the weir by Opatovice nad Labe along the mouth to the Elbe below Přelouč u Semína. The entire section flowing through forests and lowlands is intended for beginners and is navigable year round. Thus it has already become united with the landscape, so even though the descent is a slow one, it is a beautifully forested one. Bridges and footbridges are mainly very low. If you go directly from the Elbe, you will arrive at a junction of the river divided into two parts about 1 km into the journey. It is necessary to keep to the right, as the left channel returns to the Elbe. The aquaduct adds some excitement in front of Seminem, where you will see the crossing of two rivers on a different level.
