| Description: | Yes, if you would like to get to know the atmosphere of an old castle from up close, you can spend your holiday in the romantic surroundings of Svojanov Castle. On the borderland of Bohemia and Moravia, not far from Polička, stands one of the oldest Czech castles, an early gothic castle. It was built in the 13th century to protect the local trade routes and for some time even served as the romantic residence of the Queen of Kunhuty and Záviše of Falkenstein. At present, apart from its ghosts, the castle walls host a collection of magical ghosts created by the artist Jan Kutálka. The surroundings of Svojanov provide a year-round retreat for various recreational sports' activities. No matter what the weather is like, or what time of year it is, Svojanov is the place of choice. Skiers will appreciate the downhill ski runs in nearby Hamry, or the gentle slopes for cross-country skiing. |
