South Bohemia

The region of South Bohemia is ideal for cycling holidays and the varied countryside provides a wide range of opportunities for outings by bike. There is a good network of special hiking and cycling paths through the forests and fields of the region.
In the last five years, marked cycling routes of varying lengths have been laid throughout the territory of South Bohemia. Just as with the hiking routes, detailed maps of these cycling routes have also been published. The paths lead by many artificial lakes, which enable cyclists to have a rest and a swim to refresh themselves. Leading across the eastern half of South Bohemia is the long distance Vienna-Prague cycling route. It passes through the towns of Slavonice, Nová Bystřice, Jindřichův Hradec and Tábor. It is possible to turn off the main route and follow local marked routes designed to acquaint people with the beauty of the South Bohemian landscape.
