Tourist information centre classes
The Association of Tourist and Information Centres of the Czech Republic (A.T.I.C. CR) classifies member information centres. It was established at the 2nd meeting of the membership forum in October 1995 and serves the purpose of evaluating member information centres. In this categorisation, each level has an approved minimum standard and conditions that the activities of the tourist information centres must satisfy.
Minimum standard services and conditions for the activities of A.T.I.C. CR member tourist information centres
- The information centre is located in a space with public access
- The information centre is marked with the A.T.I.C. CR logo together with the "i" pictogram. The sign may be supplemented by the information centre's own signing indicating the information centre's activities
- The centre's equipment must meet the minimum standard of an information provider, meaning:
- telephone connection
- it must provide complete information that serves the purpose of orientation in the area covered by the information centre
- maps of the area, the region and the Czech Republic must be made available to visitors
- it must provide information about transportation and services in the area covered by the information centre
- it must provide information about accommodation and dining options in the area covered by the information centre
- it must provide information about cultural, social and sporting activities in the area covered by the information centre
IC are divided into 4 classes:
national information centre - indicated by four stars
- The centre is open throughout the year
- it provides information about the entire Czech Republic
- it is open 7 days per week
- the information centre has handicap access
- it provides verbal information about the Czech Republic in 3 world languages, free of charge
- it arranges tour guide activities in the area it covers
- it mediates accommodation activities in the Czech Republic
- it mediates tour guide activities in the Czech Republic
regional information centre - indicated by three stars
- The centre is open throughout the year
- it provides information about the entire region
- it is open 6 days per week
- it provides verbal information about the region in 2 world languages, free of charge
- it mediates tour guide and accommodation activities
- it is equipped with computer technology suitable for connecting to the A.T.I.C. CR information network
local year-round - indicated by two stars
- The centre is open throughout the year
- it provides information about local activities
- it is open 5 days per week
- it provides verbal information about the locality in at least 1 world language, free of charge
seasonal information centre - indicated by one star
- The centre is not open throughout the year, it serves the purpose of providing seasonal information
- it is open for a minimum of 5 days per week
- it provides verbal information about the locality in at least 1 world language, free of charge
